Statement of Privacy and Data Protection Policy
Business Reality was designed to help professionals and students come as
close to the reality of business save living it. We attempt to reduce the
many years of business into as short a time possible to help you avoid the
mistakes made in real life. This Statement sets out our policies and
practices and informs you what you can do if you believe that we have
fallen short of them. By clicking the preceding button, you agree to
Business Reality using the data entered in the following manner.
Nature, Purpose, Privacy, and Use of Information
Our site asks users to provide general contact information, such as
name, company, university, professor’s name and/or email address. This
information will be used to identify and communicate with you, and to
provide you with relevant information about our products or services.
Information about you may be held in the form of a Profile that may
include information about a person's current position, career history,
expertise, decisions made, or personality profile. Information is
collected from you directly when you enter data into the simulations. Some
basic information about you (your current position, contact information,
etc.) may be collected initially from your employing institution,
membership organization, or university that may provide you with access to
Business Reality services. Your data may be made publicly available only
in general form to those individuals doing academic or other types of
research. Business Reality may make the information available to
foundations and other research-commissioning organizations in both the
public and private sectors. These organizations use the information in a
variety of ways to 'map' current research. As a further protection for the
privacy of individuals, Business Reality may restrict access to contact
information and/or require that any approaches to individuals be managed
through Business Reality so that Business Reality can be assured that they
are appropriate. However, once you and/or your institution have been
identified through Business Reality it is possible that contact
information could be readily obtained from other sources. Therefore,
Business Reality cannot accept responsibility for the approaches that you
may receive as an indirect result of using any of the products associated
with Business Reality. Business Reality may use personal information to
third parties for commercial solicitations. Business Reality may act as an
agent on behalf of commerce partners or others to forward marketing
communications that we believe are relevant and appropriate to the
activities of users. Business Reality may use your information to identify
and communicate with you, and to provide you with relevant, desired
information about products or services and to help us determine how to
continually improve our site. Additionally, we may gather anonymous
aggregate personal information that may be used by Business Reality or
shared with selected partners and third parties. This aggregate data helps
us to determine how our users use various features of the site. Any
information uses not delineated by this document are implicitly agreed to
by the user unless not agreed to by the above mentioned agreed to button
click.
Online Purchases
When you use your credit card to purchase access to Business Reality
products or simulations we will store this information. Credit card
transactions take place solely on servers that offer a higher level of
security. The transactions are handled by a third-party financial
institution, which receives the credit card number and other
person-identifying information in order to verify the credit card number
and to process the transaction. Only authorized Business Reality employees
have access to this information, in a manner consistent with or exceeding
industry standards. Please note that if you make a purchase from our site
of goods or services provided by a third party, the information obtained
during your visit to these areas, such as your credit card number and
contact information, is provided to the merchant of record. These
merchants have separate privacy and data protection practices. Business
Reality has no responsibility or liability for their actions.

Business Reality will upon written, paper, request remove any information
that you request us not to disclose. Business Reality provides a number of
e-mail services. You can opt out of such mailings by modifying your
selections. In addition, all periodic mailings contain instructions on how
you can prevent further mailings of that type from being sent to that
address. If there is any change in the purposes for which Business Reality
has collected the information we hold about you, you will be notified in
advance and you will have the option of withholding your information from
that use or of deleting your information as appropriate.
Data Transfer
Business Reality provides institutions with the facility to download
profiles of Business Reality users at that institution for use by the
institution itself. Other than this permitted use, Business Reality
prohibits its users from downloading multiple profiles or portions of the
database. Business Reality also prohibits the transfer of any portion of
the database to a third party for any purpose other than agreed upon by
Business Reality.
Security
Business Reality uses all reasonable means to ensure the security of the
data held on its servers from loss, misuse, unauthorized access,
disclosure, alteration or destruction. Business Reality uses multiple
levels of security including username/password authentication, domain
restriction, and institutional verification. Employees are made aware of
the privacy policy and are notified of any changes in the policy. We use
your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to
administer our Web site. Your IP address is used to gather broad
demographic information. We use cookies to deliver content specific to
your interests and to temporarily save your password to provide easy
access to our products and services.
Data Integrity and Access
Business Reality will only publish information about you that has been
verified and authorized and where permitted by local regulations, by your
employing institution, university, or membership organization. Business
Reality will respond promptly to any request you may make to have
information about you removed or amended. If you request that your
information be deleted in its entirety from the database, Business Reality
will remove your information immediately from public access, but the
information may be retained for up to 3 months for internal administrative
purposes before final deletion from all Business Reality systems. At
certain institutions or membership organizations a senior administrator
has access to update records on behalf of members or staff at that
institution or organization. This capability is normally used to perform
global edits. For example, when the names of departments are changed, a
university administrator will have the ability to change the department
names automatically for that university. Business Reality cannot
independently verify the information provided by users.
